What Are Some Security Features I Should Look for in Replacement Windows and Doors for My San Diego Home?
One of the reasons why some San Diego homeowners choose to replace their windows is because their current windows and doors no longer lock, and the broken locking mechanisms are beyond fixing. They aren’t comfortable leaving their homes vulnerable to intruders who could enter through their windows or patio doors, so they are now wanting to replace them with new models that will help make their homes more secure.
Here are some of the security features available with the replacement windows and doors we sell at BM Windows:
Replacement Window Locks
Every replacement window we sell has a locking mechanism included. Most windows come with a pull-tight cam locking mechanism that makes it virtually impossible to open the window from the outside when engaged. An optional upgrade is a True Action lock that engages automatically when the window is closed. You don’t ever have to think about whether or not you remembered to lock your windows! On our sliding windows, you have the option to include a ¼” stainless steel sash deadbolt.
Patio Door Locking Systems
Our sliding patio doors come standard with high-quality locking mechanisms that include two heavy-duty hooks that securely lock the door at the door jamb. For added security, you can upgrade your locking hardware to include a total of four hooks. For homeowners wanting even more security on their sliding patio doors, a 3/8” stainless steel deadbolt can be added to our sliding patio doors.
On our swinging French patio doors, we offer a three-point locking system, which includes a keyed lock that activates three solid metal posts, one each at the top, middle, and bottom of the door. An optional deadbolt adds yet another level of security.
Laminated Security Glass
Laminated security glass is another security option available on the windows and doors we sell. This type of glass is very difficult to break from the outside, further protecting your home from intruders. The security glass we sell meets rigorous industry standards, including passing the American Society of Testing Materials’ rigorous forced entry test.
