Recently, we sent out an email to the mailing list made up of customers and potential customers we’ve been accumulating over our years in business. We don’t send out emails often. It had been a while since we’d communicated with the people on our list, and we wanted to let them know what we’ve been up to at BM Windows. Presumably, because of this email, several of our past customers went to the Yelp website and left us positive reviews about their experiences using BM Windows for replacement window installation. One such customer was Jesse R. of San Diego. He starts his review by saying: “I’ve had my windows a few years now, but BM Windows is the type of company you think about and refer long after the installation is done.” Jesse was impressed with both the service and the quality …

Anlin’s New Panoramic Series Gives San Diego Homeowners Another Replacement Window Option
Not everyone wants the same thing when it comes to replacement windows. Some San Diego homeowners like the more traditional-looking windows with wide frames that mimic the wood windows found in older homes. Others prefer a more contemporary look, with slim frames. For the second group, Anlin has come out with a new series of window products called the “Panoramic Series.” These windows feature slim-profile framing that maximize the glass area, giving homeowners a larger viewing area, and also allwoing in more natural light. You might be thinking, “Won’t the additional glass area make the windows less energy efficient?” Normally, that would be the case, but Anlin’s high-performance glass systems ensure that all of the windows in the Panoramic Series exceed Energy Star requirements—even …
Happy Mother’s Day from BM Windows in San Diego!
We wanted to take a break from our usual blog posts about replacement windows to wish all of the moms out there a Happy Mother’s Day! We recognize that being a mom is one of the hardest jobs there is. In our opinion, there should be more than just one day a year when we celebrate the moms in our lives. But based on the moms we know, they wouldn’t have it any other way. Moms are the best at making sure everyone else is taken care of before they take any time for themselves. If you have a mom (or mother figure) in your life, make sure you take the time to make her day special. Don’t just do what you think you should do or get her the same gifts everyone else is giving their moms (or the mothers of their children) for Mother’s Day. Do what you know she would love. That may mean giving …
Window Art: A History of Stained Glass
The history of windows is an interesting study, but perhaps even more so is the history of stained glass windows. Used as a form of art in churches and other places, stained glass gives us glimpses into the periods of time when Gothic and Renaissance architecture flourished. Stained glass windows are basically a type of mosaic, made up of pieces of colored glass and fit together to form a design. The pieces are traditionally joined by thin lead strips. The colored glass is made either by adding metallic salts during the making of the glass, or painted on the glass after its manufacture, and then fused to the glass using a kiln. The earliest windows that could be called stained glass windows have been found in churches built in the 4th and 5th centuries, and were made of thinly sliced …
