One such study is the 2015 Remodeling Impact Report that was put out by the National Association of Realtors Research Department. It was based a survey of members of the National Association of Relators, as well as a survey of members of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), and a survey of consumers, conducted by HouseLogic.com. The first two surveys were completed in October 2015, and the HouseLogic survey was done in September 2015.
The Value of Replacement Windows According to Realtors
In the National Association of Realtors survey, realtors were asked to rank a list of exterior home remodeling projects on their appeal to buyers. They were also asked to rank the projects according to the value they would bring to a home upon resale. The exterior remodeling projects they were asked to rank were:

Out of all of these exterior home remodeling projects, New Vinyl Windows ranked second for both appeal to homebuyers and the value they added to a home (new roofing placed first on both lists, in case you were curious).
The study points out that homeowners can expect to recoup about 80% of the cost of replacement windows when they go to sell, which is a number consistent with other studies, including one by home improvement website Angie’s List, and another by Remodeling Magazine. This figure is based on the estimated remodeling costs provided by those who responded to the NARI survey, and the estimated cost recovered provided by respondents to the National Association of Realtors survey.
Consumers’ Viewpoint on Vinyl Replacement Windows
Homeowners who had recently undergone exterior remodeling projects were tapped for their opinions on vinyl replacement windows for this particular study. According to the survey results, 71% of homeowners had a “major sense of accomplishment when they think of the project,” and 51% experienced an “increased sense of enjoyment when they are at home.” In addition, window replacement garnered a “Joy Score” of 9.4 on a scale of 1 to 10. Not only are replacement windows a good financial investment, but they are also an investment in your personal satisfaction when it comes to your home!
