The HERO financing program is relatively new to the San Diego area, but it has been well-established and operating in Northern California for a while now. Residents, business owners and local government officials talk about the success and opportunity it has brought to their communities.
With the HERO program, eligible homeowners can obtain financing for up to 20 years with low (fixed) interest rates for qualifying upgrades. Unlike typical financing options, that base eligibility on your credit score, the HERO program is based on your property taxes. You can visit the HERO website at https://www.heroprogram.com to check if your property qualifies. Most properties do.
HERO financing may be applied to permanent home upgrades that offer energy-saving (green) benefits. Common products include energy efficient replacement windows, solar panels, HVAC installs and more.
