We wanted to take a break from our usual blog posts about replacement windows to wish all of the moms out there a Happy Mother’s Day!
We recognize that being a mom is one of the hardest jobs there is. In our opinion, there should be more than just one day a year when we celebrate the moms in our lives. But based on the moms we know, they wouldn’t have it any other way. Moms are the best at making sure everyone else is taken care of before they take any time for themselves.

If you have a mom (or mother figure) in your life, make sure you take the time to make her day special. Don’t just do what you think you should do or get her the same gifts everyone else is giving their moms (or the mothers of their children) for Mother’s Day. Do what you know she would love. That may mean giving her a break from her normal routine, or just spending the day with her, doing something that makes her happy.
According to Parenting Magazine, the top 10 things moms really want for Mother’s Day include:
- A clean house
- A completed “Honey-Do” list
- Sleep
- A spa day
- Handmade gifts from their kids
As you can see from this list, most of the things the mom in your life wants most are fairly inexpensive or even free—though they may take more effort than just going out and picking up a box of chocolates and a bouquet of flowers. This list also highlights the fact that moms sometimes just want a break. So give her one—at least on this one day of the year!
If you’re looking for somewhere to take a mom on Mother’s Day, take a look at this list of things to do in the San Diego area on or around Mother’s Day put together by KPBS. It includes everything from places to get tea or brunch to camel rides at the Oasis Camel Dairy in Ramona.
If your mother doesn’t live near you, make sure you set aside a good amount of time for a phone call. (Not a text—your mom wants to hear your voice!)
Overall, just make sure all of the moms in your life feel loved and appreciated. If you are a mom yourself, we hope you have a wonderful day, and wish you the happiest of Mother’s Days from all of us here at BM Windows in San Diego!
