At BM Windows, we install a lot of replacement sliding glass doors for our San Diego customers every year. A popular option with replacement sliding patio doors is an in-glass pet door. Pet doors offer benefits to both homeowners and the pets themselves. Your pets will have the freedom to come and go as they please, and with easier access to the outdoors, they will be happier and healthier. For homeowners, pet doors keep you from having to play “doorman” to your four-legged friends, and they protect your doors from the scratches that come from your pet clawing at the door to get in or out.

Will a Pet Door Make My Patio Doors Less Energy-Efficient?
Our Freedom+ in-glass pet doors are designed to work with Anlin’s Malibu sliding doors, which are among the most energy efficient dual-pane sliding glass doors on the market. Our Freedom+ in-glass pet doors contain a magnetic closure that seals the door shut when not in use. It also contains weather stripping to keep the outside elements from entering your home.
How Do Pet Doors Hold Up Under Heavy Use?
Freedom+ in-glass pet doors have a soft, flexible flap that is both gentle on your pets, and durable enough to withstand years of use, even from multiple pets. The pet door’s frame is made with heavy-duty aluminum and has reinforced corners. Each one also has a latching mechanism, so you can keep your pets in or out when necessary.
Do I Have a Choice on Which Door Panel the Pet Door is Installed?
Yes! Unlike the replacement sliding patio doors from other manufacturers, Anlin sliding patio doors allow customers to choose which panel will have the pet door. You can choose either a movable or a stationary panel for your pet door, since the slim-line design of the pet doors still allows the sliding doors to open fully. Most homeowners choose to install pet doors in the stationary door panel that is farthest away from the movable panel, so the pet door will be unobstructed when the door is open, while still allowing the screen door to be closed. However, you can choose whatever location will work best in your particular home.
Do You Offer Different Sizes of Pet Doors?
Yes! We offer four sizes of in-glass pet doors: small, medium, large, and x-large. We can help you select the size that will be best for your pets, given their sizes (or the sizes they will be when fully grown).
If you’ve ever thought about installing a pet door in your home, having one installed in your replacement patio door is a great option! Contact us at BM Windows for any additional questions about in-glass pet doors or replacement sliding patio doors. We would be happy to come out to your San Diego home for a no-obligation consultation to help you choose the patio doors and pet doors that will best suit your home.
